Hard-Part Fade

Classic Dapper Textured

A hard-part fade haircut features longer hair on top and shorter hair on the back and sides (eventually blending into the skin), combined with a sharp “hard part,” which is a clean, defined line shaved into the scalp to separate the longer hair from the faded portion. A hard-part fade is great for both textured and non-textured hair.

Style the look at home

Apply a styling cream to damp hair. Blow dry hair with medium or high heat, lifting at the roots and directing hair away from the hard-part area. Finish with gel, pomade or paste, pulling sections of hair together to create definition and texture.

Start with dry or damp hair. Comb through to detangle, making sure to move hair away from the hard-part area. For tighter curls, apply a gel or curl enhancing cream and scrunch or twist into hair.

What to tell your stylist

Love this haircut? Here's what to tell your stylist so you can get this look.

“I'd like to get a hard-part fade, please. I’d like to leave the top long enough to style with a little paste or gel, then gradually fade through the back and sides down to a bald fade. Please also shave in a clean, precise part on one side.”
